Description

The Moxa UPort 1250-G2 is a 2-port RS-232/422/485 USB-to-serial converter that connects legacy serial devices such as PLCs, meters, sensors and barcode readers to modern PCs over a SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection. This non-isolated model offers 0.5 kV surge protection and operates across a 0 to 60°C temperature range, suited to office, lab and light industrial environments.

Each DB9 male serial port is individually software-selectable for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485, with Automatic Data Direction Control (ADDC) for RS-485 and baudrates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps. The metal housing is bus-powered over USB so no external power supply is needed, and drivers are available for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android, including virtual machine and Arm-based Linux platforms.

Q: Does the UPort 1250-G2 need an external power supply?
A: No. It is bus-powered at 5 VDC from the USB port, drawing 320 mA on USB 3 and 160 mA on USB 2.

Q: Which serial interfaces does each port support?
A: Each of the two DB9 male ports is individually software-selectable for RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 (2-wire or 4-wire), with Automatic Data Direction Control for RS-485.

Q: Does this model provide isolation?
A: No. The UPort 1250-G2 provides 0.5 kV surge protection but no isolation. Isolation (2 kV) is only available on the I model variants of the series.

Q: Which operating systems are supported?
A: Drivers are available for Windows (including Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022), Linux kernels 4.x to 6.x, macOS 10.1x to 13 on Intel 64, and Android 3.1.x and later.
