For business fit outs and fleet rollouts, Dell monitor model numbers tell you the range, size and year. Knowing the pattern makes it easy to compare models such as the U2724D, U3824DW and U4025QW.

First letter: the range

  • U: UltraSharp, Dell's premium business range with the best colour and USB-C hubs
  • P: Professional, the everyday business range
  • E: Essential, entry level models

First two numbers: screen size. U27 is 27 inch, U38 is 38 inch and U40 is 40 inch.

Next two numbers: the model year. U2724D is a 2024 model and U4025QW is a 2025 model.

Final letters: resolution and shape. Letters show the resolution class, and W means an ultrawide screen. Check the data sheet for exact resolution.
