Description

The Moxa NPort IA5250A-T-IEX is a 2-port RS-232/422/485 serial device server built for industrial automation, connecting serial devices to Ethernet networks. This IECEx certified model operates across a -40 to 75C temperature range, has no serial isolation, and provides two 10/100BaseT(X) Ethernet ports that can share a single IP address or run dual IP addresses for network redundancy.

Built in a rugged metal housing with DIN-rail or wall mounting, it is also certified to ATEX Zone 2 and UL/cUL Class I Division 2 for hazardous locations. Dual redundant 12 to 48 VDC terminal block power inputs and enhanced surge protection on the serial, LAN and power connections suit demanding industrial deployments. Operation modes include Real COM, TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, Reverse Telnet, RFC2217, Pair Connection and Ethernet Modem, with driver support for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.

Features

FAQs

Q: Does the NPort IA5250A-T-IEX have serial isolation?
A: No. This model has no serial isolation. The 2 kV serial isolation is only available on the 'I' models in the NPort IA5000A range. The Ethernet ports do include 1.5 kV magnetic isolation.

Q: Which hazardous location certifications does it carry?
A: It is certified to IECEx, ATEX Zone 2 and UL/cUL Class I Division 2 Groups A/B/C/D.

Q: What serial interfaces are supported?
A: Each of the two DB9 male serial ports supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, with ADDC automatic data direction control for RS-485.

Q: What operating temperature range does it support?
A: It operates from -40 to 75C (-40 to 167F), suitable for extreme industrial environments.

Q: Can the two Ethernet ports be used for redundancy?
A: Yes. The two 10/100BaseT(X) ports can share a single IP address or be configured with dual IP addresses for network redundancy, and they can also be used for cascading to simplify wiring.

Q: How is it powered and mounted?
A: It has dual redundant 12 to 48 VDC power inputs on a terminal block. It mounts on a DIN rail, or on a wall with the optional mounting kit.
