Description

The NPort IA-5250I-T is an industrial 2-port RS-232/422/485 serial device server that connects serial equipment to an Ethernet network. It features two 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 Ethernet ports sharing a single IP address for easy cascade wiring, plus 2 kV optical isolation on the serial ports to protect against electrical interference and surges.

As the wide-temperature model of the NPort IA5000 series, it operates from -40 to 75°C and is built for DIN-rail installation in an IP30 plastic housing. Redundant DC power inputs with relay output alerting, TCP server, TCP client and UDP socket modes, and Windows Real COM and Linux Real TTY drivers make it well suited to industrial automation, process control and remote monitoring deployments.

Features

- 2 kV optical isolation protects serial ports from surges and ground loops
- Wide operating temperature range of -40 to 75°C for harsh environments
- Patented ADDC (Automatic Data Direction Control) for 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485
- Cascading Ethernet ports simplify wiring with a single IP address
- Redundant DC power inputs for reliable operation
- Warnings and alerts by relay output and email
- Windows Real COM, Linux Real TTY and fixed TTY drivers for many operating systems
- IP30-rated housing with DIN-rail mounting

FAQs

Q: What serial interfaces does the NPort IA-5250I-T support?
A: Its two DB9 male serial ports support RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, with baudrates from 110 bps to 230.4 kbps.

Q: What is the operating temperature range?
A: This -T model operates from -40 to 75°C, making it suitable for outdoor cabinets and unheated industrial sites.

Q: How does the isolation work on this model?
A: The serial ports have 2 kV optical isolation, and the Ethernet ports have 1.5 kV built-in magnetic isolation.

Q: Can I daisy-chain devices using the two Ethernet ports?
A: Yes. The two RJ45 ports support Ethernet cascade with a single IP address, which reduces switch port use and cabling.

Q: Which operating modes and drivers are supported?
A: It supports TCP server, TCP client and UDP socket modes, and provides Windows Real COM and Linux Real TTY drivers.

Q: How is the unit powered and mounted?
A: It has two redundant DC power inputs on a terminal block with a relay output for alerts, and mounts on a DIN rail.
