Description

The NPort IA5000 IA-5250-T is a 2-port industrial serial device server that connects RS-232/422/485 serial devices to Ethernet. It provides two DB9 male serial ports and dual cascade-capable 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 Ethernet ports, and this wide temperature model is rated for -40 to 75°C operation. The serial ports are non-isolated.

Built for DIN-rail installation in an IP30 plastic housing, it offers 12 to 48 VDC redundant dual power inputs and a relay output for alerts, with 1.5 kV magnetic isolation on the Ethernet ports. Socket modes include TCP server, TCP client and UDP, with Real COM/TTY drivers for Windows, Linux and macOS and configuration via web console, Windows utility, Telnet or serial console.

Features

- Socket modes: TCP server, TCP client and UDP
- ADDC (automatic data direction control) for 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485
- Cascading Ethernet ports for simplified wiring
- Redundant DC power inputs
- Warnings and alerts via relay output and email
- IP30-rated housing for DIN-rail installation
- UL 508, UL/cUL Class 1 Division 2, ATEX Zone 2 and IECEx Zone 2 certifications
- Configuration via web console, Windows utility, Telnet and serial console
- Real COM/TTY drivers for Windows, Linux and macOS

FAQs

Q: Which serial standards does the NPort IA-5250-T support?
A: Its two DB9 male serial ports support RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, with speeds from 110 to 230400 bps.

Q: Are the serial ports isolated?
A: No. This is the non-isolated model, so it has no serial isolation. The Ethernet ports have built-in 1.5 kV magnetic isolation.

Q: What operating temperature range does it support?
A: It is a wide temperature model rated for -40 to 75°C operation.

Q: How is it powered?
A: It accepts 12 to 48 VDC through terminal block connectors and has two power inputs for redundancy.

Q: Can I daisy-chain Ethernet connections?
A: Yes. The two RJ45 Ethernet ports support cascading, which simplifies wiring between nearby devices.

Q: How do I access the serial devices from a PC?
A: Use the Real COM/TTY drivers for Windows, Linux and macOS, or the TCP server, TCP client and UDP socket modes.
