Description

The Moxa NPort 6610-32 is a 32-port RS-232 secure device server that connects up to 32 serial devices to an Ethernet network. Built for 19-inch rack deployments, it uses SSL and SSH to encrypt serial data, and its 100-240 VAC universal power input suits installations in any region.

Each serial port is an 8-pin RJ45 supporting baudrates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps, including non-standard rates, with full RS-232 modem control signals. Port buffers hold serial data while the Ethernet link is offline, and an SD socket allows memory expansion. Configuration is available through a web console, serial console, Telnet console or the Windows search utility, and the unit supports IPv4 and IPv6 with SNMP v1/v2c/v3 for management.

Features

- Secure data transmission over Ethernet using SSL and SSH
- Reverse terminal support for connecting to serial console ports
- High-precision non-standard baudrate support
- Port buffers store serial data when the Ethernet link is offline
- IPv6 support
- Optional NM series network module adds Ethernet redundancy (STP/RSTP/Turbo Ring) or fibre connectivity
- Dial in/out via PPP/SLIP with PPPoE support
- Generic serial command support
- Universal 100-240 VAC power input

FAQs

Q: What serial interface does the NPort 6610-32 support?
A: All 32 serial ports are RS-232 with 8-pin RJ45 connectors, supporting TxD, RxD, RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD and GND signals.

Q: How is serial data secured over the network?
A: The unit supports secure operation modes using SSL and SSH, with DES, 3DES and AES encryption, so serial data is protected as it crosses the Ethernet network.

Q: Can it be rack mounted?
A: Yes. It is a 1U, 19-inch rackmount device with a metal housing. The rack mounting kit is optional.

Q: What happens to serial data if the Ethernet connection drops?
A: Port buffers store serial data while the Ethernet link is offline, so data is retained until the connection is restored.

Q: Can I add network redundancy or fibre connectivity?
A: Yes. The optional NM series network module adds Ethernet redundancy with STP, RSTP or Turbo Ring, or a fibre uplink.

Q: What power input does it use?
A: It accepts 100 to 240 VAC, drawing 285 mA at 100 VAC, so it works with standard mains power in Australia and internationally.
