Description

The FiberPoE Gen 2 is a Gigabit fibre-to-PoE media converter for outdoor installations, supplied with an AU plug. It converts a 1G SFP fibre link to a PoE-enabled GbE RJ45 port and injects 24V or 50V passive PoE from a separate DC feed, so PoE devices can be placed far beyond the 100 m copper limit. It suits outdoor access points, cameras and bridges at the end of a fibre run.

Data and power travel on separate cables, which improves data integrity and allows much longer runs. Built-in gas discharge tube surge protection, enhanced ESD protection and an IPX5-rated enclosure make it well suited to exposed sites. Use a single unit as a fibre-to-Ethernet converter, or deploy a pair to build a fibre bridge. Operation across -40 to 60 °C may be further limited by the SFP module fitted.

FAQs

Q: Does the F-POE-G2 include an SFP module?
A: No. The unit provides a 1 Gbps SFP port, so a compatible 1G SFP module and fibre cabling are needed for the fibre link.

Q: What PoE output does it provide?
A: The GbE PoE RJ45 port delivers passive PoE at 24V on 2-pair or 24V/50V on 4-pair. It is not 802.3af/at PoE, so connect only devices that support passive PoE at the matching voltage.

Q: Does it support 10/100 Mbps devices?
A: No. The PoE port is Gigabit only, and 10/100 Mbps connections are not supported.

Q: Can two units be used to bridge a fibre link?
A: Yes. One unit can serve as a fibre-to-Ethernet converter, or a pair can be used to create a fibre bridge between two sites.

Q: What DC supply does it need?
