Description

The Moxa TCF-90-M-ST is an RS-232 to fibre converter that links a serial device to a multi-mode fibre optic cable through an ST connector. It extends serial links up to a typical 5 km over multi-mode fibre at 850 nm, supports baud rates from 300 bps to 115.2 kbps, and is port powered from the 5 to 12 VDC power input jack.

Converting serial signals to light gives the link inherent isolation from electrical interference, which suits industrial sites where long cable runs or noisy environments affect copper serial connections.
