Description

The TCC-80-DB9 is a port-powered RS-232 to RS-422/485 serial converter that needs no external power source, drawing its energy from the RS-232 TxD line. It converts RS-422 and both 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485, with a DB9 female connector on the RS-232 side and a DB9 male connector on the RS-422/485 side (non-isolated). Automatic data direction control and automatic baudrate detection mean it works with no configuration in most serial setups.

The compact desktop unit supports baudrates from 300 bps to 115.2 kbps and includes built-in 120-ohm termination resistors, with 15 kV serial ESD protection to protect connected equipment. An optional 5 to 12 VDC external supply can be used, but is not required. The housing combines a plastic top cover with a metal bottom plate, and the unit operates from 0 to 60°C.
