Description

The Moxa TCC-120I is an industrial RS-422/485 converter and repeater with 2 kV optical isolation, designed to extend serial transmission distance or convert RS-422 to RS-485. Its isolated design protects connected equipment from ground loops and electrical surges, which makes it well suited to factory automation, building management and remote monitoring networks.

The TCC-120I supports 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485 as well as RS-422, with automatic data direction control and baudrates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps. A rugged metal IP30 housing, terminal block wiring, and a 12 to 48 VDC power input allow straightforward installation by DIN-rail (with optional kit) or wall mounting in demanding industrial environments.

Features

- Boosts serial signals to extend transmission distance
- Boosts RS-422 or RS-485 signals, or converts RS-422 to RS-485

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the TCC-120I and the TCC-120?
A: The TCC-120I adds 2 kV optical isolation to protect the connected system, while the TCC-120 is the non-isolated model in the same series.

Q: Can the TCC-120I convert RS-422 to RS-485?
A: Yes. It can convert RS-422 to RS-485, or boost an RS-422 or RS-485 signal to extend transmission distance.

Q: Does it support both 2-wire and 4-wire RS-485?
A: Yes. It supports RS-422, 4-wire RS-485 and 2-wire RS-485, wired through the terminal block.

Q: What power supply does the TCC-120I need?
A: It accepts a 12 to 48 VDC input via the terminal block and draws 180 mA at 12 VDC.

Q: How is the TCC-120I mounted?
A: It can be wall mounted, or DIN-rail mounted using the optional DIN-rail kit.

Q: Is a termination resistor built in?
A: Yes. A DIP switch lets you enable a built-in 120 ohm terminator and select the RS-485 pull high/low resistor values.
