Description

The Moxa MGate 5114-T is an industrial Modbus to IEC 60870-5-104 protocol gateway built for harsh environments, with a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 75°C. It converts between Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP, IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104, supporting up to 2000 information objects, which makes it well suited to substation, utility and SCADA integration projects.

The gateway provides 2 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports with built-in cascading and one RS-232/422/485 serial port with 2 kV isolation. It runs from redundant 12-48 VDC power inputs, includes a relay output and a microSD slot for configuration backup and event logs, and uses a metal IP30 housing. A web-based Quick Setup wizard and a protocol traffic monitor simplify commissioning and troubleshooting.

FAQs

Q: What protocols does the MGate 5114-T convert between?
A: It converts between Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP, IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104. It can operate as a Modbus master/client or slave/server and as an IEC 104 client or server.

Q: What is the difference between the MGate 5114-T and the standard MGate 5114?
A: The -T model is the wide-temperature version, rated for operation from -40 to 75°C, making it suitable for outdoor cabinets, substations and other harsh environments.

Q: How many information objects does it support?
A: The gateway supports up to 2000 information objects for both IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-104 operation.

Q: What serial interface does it provide?
A: One software-selectable RS-232/422/485 port on a DB9 male connector with 2 kV isolation and baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps.

Q: How is the MGate 5114-T powered?
A: It accepts 12-48 VDC through redundant dual power inputs, so it can stay online if one supply fails. A relay output is available for alarm signalling.

Q: Can the configuration be backed up?
A: Yes. The microSD slot (up to 32 GB) can be used to back up and duplicate configurations and store event logs.
