Description

The MGate 5109-T is a 1-port industrial protocol gateway that converts between Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP and DNP3 serial/TCP/UDP networks. This wide-temperature model operates from -40 to 75°C, making it suited to substations, outdoor cabinets and other harsh utility and SCADA environments where standard gateways are not rated to run.

It pairs a DB9 RS-232/422/485 serial port with 2 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports with built-in cascading, so devices can be daisy-chained without an extra switch. A metal IP30 DIN-rail housing, 2 kV serial isolation, redundant dual 12-48 VDC power inputs and a relay output support dependable field deployment, while a web-based configuration wizard and built-in protocol traffic monitor simplify commissioning and diagnostics.

Features

- Converts between Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP and DNP3 serial/TCP/UDP
- Supports DNP3 master and outstation (Level 2) operation
- Auto detection for DNP3 serial outstations

FAQs

Q: What protocols does the MGate 5109-T convert between?
A: It converts between Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP (master/client and slave/server) and DNP3 serial/TCP/UDP (master and outstation, Level 2), allowing Modbus devices to communicate with DNP3 SCADA systems and vice versa.

Q: What operating temperature range does this model support?
A: The MGate 5109-T is the wide-temperature model, rated for -40 to 75°C, suitable for outdoor cabinets, substations and other harsh industrial environments.

Q: Which serial interfaces are available?
A: One DB9 male serial port that is software selectable between RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, with 2 kV built-in isolation and baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps.

Q: Can the gateway be powered redundantly?
A: Yes. It has redundant dual 12-48 VDC power inputs on a screw-fastened Euroblock terminal, plus a relay output for alarm signalling.

Q: How many DNP3 data points can it handle?
A: In DNP3 master mode it supports up to 26,600 data points.

Q: How is the gateway configured and backed up?
A: Configuration is done through a web-based wizard. A microSD card slot allows configuration backup and duplication across units, and also stores event logs.
