Description

The Moxa IMC-21-M-ST is an industrial media converter that links 10/100BaseT(X) copper Ethernet to 100BaseFX multi-mode fibre over an ST connector. It is designed for factory floors, substations and other harsh industrial sites where copper runs need to be extended over fibre, reaching a typical distance of 4 km on 50/125 µm multi-mode fibre. This ST connector, multi-mode variant operates across -10 to 60°C and mounts quickly on a DIN rail.

Built-in 1.5 kV magnetic isolation and overload current protection help safeguard connected equipment, while Link Fault Pass-Through (LFPT) allows faults on one side of the link to be signalled to the other. DIP switches provide simple selection of full/half duplex, 10/100 Mbps, auto negotiation or forced modes without the need for software configuration.

Features

- Converts 10/100BaseT(X) copper Ethernet to 100BaseFX multi-mode fibre
- Link Fault Pass-Through (LFPT) for fast fault detection across the link
- DIP switches to select full/half duplex, 10/100 Mbps, auto or forced mode
- Rugged hardware design for harsh industrial conditions
- Easy DIN-rail mounting
- Wide 12 to 48 VDC power input with overload current protection

FAQs

Q: What fibre type and connector does the IMC-21-M-ST use?
A: It uses multi-mode fibre (50/125 µm OM1) with an ST connector on the 100BaseFX port, and supports a typical distance of 4 km.

Q: What is the operating temperature range of this model?
A: The IMC-21-M-ST operates from -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F). It can be stored at -40 to 70°C.

Q: How is the IMC-21-M-ST powered?
A: It accepts a 12 to 48 VDC input with a maximum draw of 0.271 A and includes overload current protection.

Q: How do I configure the speed and duplex settings?
A: DIP switches on the unit let you select full duplex, half duplex, 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, auto negotiation or forced modes, so no software is required.

Q: What does Link Fault Pass-Through (LFPT) do?
A: LFPT passes a link fault detected on one port to the other side of the connection, so connected devices and monitoring systems are alerted to the break quickly.

Q: How does this differ from other IMC-21 models?
A: The IMC-21 family covers multi-mode and single-mode fibre with SC or ST connectors. This model is the multi-mode version with an ST connector and a -10 to 60°C operating range.
