Description

The ICF-1150I-S-SC-T is an industrial serial to single-mode fibre converter that carries RS-232 and RS-422/485 signals over fibre with an SC connector, extending the link up to 40 km. It provides 2 kV isolation and a -40 to 85°C wide-temperature rating, making it suited to substations, factory floors, transport systems and other electrically noisy or outdoor sites.

Three-way communication between RS-232, RS-422/485 and fibre lets one unit bridge serial devices across long distances. Automatic data direction control simplifies RS-485 wiring, a rotary switch adjusts the pull high/low resistor value, and the IP30 metal housing mounts on a DIN rail. The unit accepts 12 to 48 VDC and carries C1D2 and ATEX Zone 2 hazardous location approvals.

Features

- 3-way communication between RS-232, RS-422/485 and fibre
- Extends RS-232/422/485 transmission up to 40 km over single-mode fibre
- 2 kV isolation protection for improved noise immunity
- 40 to 85°C wide-temperature operation
- Rotary switch to change the pull high/low resistor value
- C1D2 and ATEX certified for harsh industrial environments
- Overload current protection on the power input

FAQs

Q: What fibre cable does the ICF-1150I-S-SC-T require?
A: It uses a single-mode SC fibre port and requires G.652 single-mode fibre, with a typical reach of 40 km at 1310 nm.

Q: Which serial interfaces does it support?
A: It converts RS-232 (DB9 female) and RS-422/485 (5-pin terminal block) to fibre, with 3-way communication between all three interfaces.

Q: Does this model provide electrical isolation?
A: Yes, it provides 2 kV isolation, which improves noise immunity and protects connected serial equipment.

Q: What temperature range can it operate in?
A: This wide-temperature model operates from -40 to 85°C, suited to outdoor cabinets and industrial enclosures.

Q: How is it powered and mounted?
A: It accepts 12 to 48 VDC via a terminal block power input and mounts on a DIN rail in an IP30 metal housing.

Q: How does RS-485 direction control work?
A: It uses ADDC (automatic data direction control), so no software handshaking is needed for RS-485 data direction, and a rotary switch sets the pull high/low resistor value.
