Description

The EDS-308-MM-SC is an 8-port unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch from the Moxa EDS-308 series, combining 6 x 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports with 2 x 100BaseFX multi-mode SC fibre ports. It suits factory floors, control cabinets and plant networks where a fibre uplink is needed to cover distances of up to 4 km over OM1 multi-mode cable, and it operates across the standard -10 to 60 C temperature range.

Built for harsh industrial environments, this switch has an IP30 metal housing, DIN-rail mounting and redundant dual 9.6 to 60 VDC power inputs. A built-in relay output warns of power failure and port break, and the unit is suited to Class I Division 2 and ATEX Zone 2 hazardous locations.

Features

- Relay output warning for power failure and port break alarm
- Broadcast storm protection
- Redundant dual 12/24/48 VDC power inputs
- Designed for harsh industrial environments (Class I Div. 2, ATEX Zone 2)
- 100% burn-in tested
- Easy installation on DIN rail or in a distribution box
- Complies with FCC, UL and CE standards

FAQs

Q: What fibre ports does the EDS-308-MM-SC have?
A: It has 2 x 100BaseFX multi-mode SC ports, supporting OM1 50/125 µm cable over a typical distance of 4 km at 1300 nm.

Q: Is this a managed switch?
A: No. The EDS-308-MM-SC is an unmanaged switch using store and forward processing, so it works plug-and-play without configuration.

Q: What power input does it use?
A: It accepts 9.6 to 60 VDC through a removable 6-contact terminal block, with redundant dual inputs for 12/24/48 VDC supplies. Reverse polarity and overload current protection are included.

Q: What temperature range does this model support?
A: This is the standard temperature model, operating from -10 to 60 C.

Q: Can it alert me to a fault?
A: Yes. The built-in relay output (1 A @ 24 VDC) provides a warning for power failure and port break.

Q: How is it mounted?
A: It mounts on a DIN rail as standard. Wall mounting is possible with the optional mounting kit.
