Description

The Juniper ORHS-800G-DR4-2 is an 800G OSFP RHS (Riding Heat Sink) optical transceiver engineered for high-density data centre, AI/ML cluster, and core network deployments. Delivering 800G throughput via 2x400G DR4 channels across up to 2km of single-mode fibre, it uses PAM4 modulation with 8x100Gbps lanes over a dual MPO-12 connector interface. Qualified for Juniper's 800GbE-capable PTX and QFX platforms, it integrates natively with Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved for seamless optics management and monitoring.

The RHS form factor — a 9.5mm tall pluggable module with a riding heat sink — is purpose-built for host systems requiring external thermal management and is not interchangeable with standard OSFP-IHS slots. It supports 2x400G DR4 breakout configurations, complies with IEEE 802.3ck, OSFP MSA, and CMIS Rev 5.0 standards, and includes full Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM). Every module undergoes system-level power, thermal, and DVT validation by Juniper, with full JTAC support included. Available now at iptrading.com.au — competitive prices and local support.

FAQs

Q: What platforms is the ORHS-800G-DR4-2 compatible with?
A: The ORHS-800G-DR4-2 is qualified for Juniper's 800GbE-capable PTX and QFX platform families. It integrates natively with Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved. Always verify specific line card and software release compatibility with Juniper's qualified optics guide before deployment.

Q: What fibre type and reach does this transceiver support?
A: This transceiver operates over Single-Mode Fibre (SMF) at 1310nm and supports a maximum reach of 2km, making it well-suited for data centre interconnects and campus core links where longer distances are needed than standard DR1 optics provide.

Q: What is the difference between OSFP-RHS and OSFP-IHS form factors?
A: The RHS (Riding Heat Sink) form factor is 9.5mm tall and relies on a heat sink mounted on the module itself for thermal management. The IHS (Integrated Heat Sink) relies on the host system's cage for cooling. These two form factors are not mechanically interchangeable, so it is critical to confirm your chassis supports RHS-style OSFP ports before ordering.

Q: Can this module be used for 2x400G breakout configurations?
A: Yes. The ORHS-800G-DR4-2 supports 2x400G DR4 breakout via dual MPO-12 connectors, allowing a single 800G port to be split into two independent 400G links. This is ideal for connecting to spine switches, AI/ML GPU clusters, or high-density server fabrics.

Q: Is FEC required when using the ORHS-800G-DR4-2?
A: Yes, Forward Error Correction (FEC) is required at both the transmitter and receiver ends when operating this transceiver. This is standard for PAM4-based 800G optics operating at 1310nm over SMF at these data rates. Ensure your platform's port configuration has FEC enabled.

Q: Can I purchase the ORHS-800G-DR4-2 in Australia from IP Trading?
A: Yes. IP Trading (iptrading.com.au) is an Australian B2B IT hardware reseller with the ORHS-800G-DR4-2 available now at competitive prices with local support. Contact the team for volume pricing, availability, and compatibility advice tailored to your network environment.
