Higher-grade OM3 or OM4 fibre will also work but does not extend the reach beyond 2 km for this 100BASE-FX application.

Q: Can I mix this transceiver with Cisco original GLC-FE-100FX modules on the same link?
A: Yes. Because both transceivers comply with the IEEE 802.3 100BASE-FX standard and operate at the same 1310 nm wavelength over multi-mode fibre with the same electrical and optical specifications, they are fully interoperable. You can deploy this BCC transceiver at one end and a Cisco original at the other end, or mix them across a network without compatibility issues.
