Description

The Fortinet FortiGate-81F is a compact, fanless desktop next-generation firewall built for small branch and remote offices. It provides 8 x GE RJ45 ports (6 internal and 2 FortiLink) plus 2 x RJ45/SFP shared media WAN ports, and includes an onboard 128 GB SSD for local logging and reporting. This non-PoE model delivers 10 Gbps firewall throughput, 1.4 Gbps IPS, 1 Gbps NGFW and 6.5 Gbps IPsec VPN throughput.

The silent, fanless chassis can be used on a desktop, wall-mounted or fitted to a rack tray. FortiLink ports allow direct management of FortiSwitch units, and the firewall can manage up to 96 FortiAP access points. Active-Active, Active-Passive and clustering high availability suit sites that need resilient connectivity.

• Hardware Warranty: All Fortinet hardware products come with a 1-year (365 days) limited warranty from the Warranty Start Date, covering material defects in workmanship when compared to the published Functional Specifications.
• Software Warranty: Fortinet software is warranted for 90 days from the Warranty Start Date. An exception is FortiToken, which carries a 1-year warranty.
• Limited Lifetime Warranty Products:
Some products are covered by extended terms:
o FortiAP and FortiSwitch (excluding FortiSwitch-5000 series) include a limited lifetime warranty valid for 5 years beyond the product’s announced end-of-life date.

Q: Does the FortiGate-81F support PoE?
A: No. The FG-81F is a non-PoE model. Any PoE devices connected through it need a separate PoE switch or injector.

Q: What WAN connectivity options does the FG-81F offer?
A: It has 2 x GE RJ45/SFP shared media WAN ports. Each pair can be used as either a copper RJ45 port or an SFP fibre port, but not both at once.

Q: Can the FG-81F manage FortiSwitch and FortiAP devices?
A: Yes. Two GE RJ45 FortiLink ports are provided by default for FortiSwitch management. The firewall supports up to 16 FortiSwitches and up to 96 FortiAPs (48 in tunnel mode).
