Description

The FortiAP-244K is a Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) outdoor quad-radio access point delivering tri-band 2.4/5/6 GHz coverage with 2x2 spatial streams per band and a dedicated 24/7 scanning radio for real-time WIDS/WIPS monitoring. Designed for outdoor environments, it features a weather-hardened enclosure with internal antennas, a 10GE SFP+ uplink to eliminate wired bottlenecks, and a 5G RJ45 port for flexible PoE-powered connectivity — making it ideal for high-density campuses, stadiums, warehouses, and secure outdoor deployments.

Fully integrated into the Fortinet Security Fabric, the FortiAP-244K is managed via FortiGate (FortiOS 7.4+) or FortiEdge Cloud for centralised, security-driven wireless management. It supports WPA3, EAP-TLS, PEAP, built-in NAC, ZTNA, and SASE — including optional FortiSASE subscription for cloud-managed zero-trust operation. Bluetooth/BLE radio adds IoT and location services capability. PoE injector and ceiling/wall mount kit are included in the box. Upgrade your network with gear from iptrading.com.au — Australia's IT hardware specialists.

FAQs

Q: What Wi-Fi standard does the FortiAP-244K support?
A: The FortiAP-244K supports Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be), the latest generation of wireless standard. It operates across tri-band 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequencies with 2x2 spatial streams per band, and includes a fourth dedicated scanning radio — delivering superior throughput, lower latency, and real-time wireless intrusion detection.

Q: Is the 6 GHz band available in Australia?
A: 6 GHz band availability is subject to regional regulatory authority approval. In Australia, the ACMA governs 6 GHz spectrum access. Buyers should confirm current Australian regulatory status before deploying the FortiAP-244K in 6 GHz mode. The access point will operate fully on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands regardless of 6 GHz regulatory status.

Q: How is the FortiAP-244K managed?
A: The FortiAP-244K can be centrally managed through a FortiGate WLAN controller running FortiOS 7.4 or later, or via the FortiEdge Cloud provisioning portal for cloud-managed deployments. It integrates into the Fortinet Security Fabric for unified wired and wireless visibility and policy management from a single pane of glass.

Q: What uplink options does the FortiAP-244K provide?
A: The FortiAP-244K offers a 10GE SFP+ fibre uplink for high-throughput wired backhaul, a 5G (5000 Base-T) RJ45 port for PoE-powered connectivity, and a standard Gigabit RJ45 port — giving network engineers flexible options to match existing cabling and bandwidth requirements in outdoor deployments.

Q: Is the FortiAP-244K suitable for outdoor and harsh environments?
A: Yes. The FortiAP-244K features an outdoor-hardened enclosure with internal antennas designed for weather-resistant deployment in locations such as campuses, warehouses, stadiums, courtyards, and transport hubs. It ships with a PoE injector and ceiling/wall mount kit, and also supports pole mounting for flexible installation.

Q: Can I purchase the FortiAP-244K in Australia through IP Trading?
A: Yes. IP Trading (iptrading.com.au) is an Australian B2B IT hardware specialist stocking Fortinet products including the FortiAP-244K. Contact the team for pricing, volume discounts, and advice on FortiSASE subscription options to pair with your access point deployment.
