Q: Can I mix this LRM transceiver with SR or LR optics on the same link?
A: No. Both ends of a 10G optical link must use transceivers designed for the same fibre type and wavelength. 10GBASE-LRM operates at 1310nm over multi-mode or single-mode fibre, while 10GBASE-SR uses 850nm over multi-mode and 10GBASE-LR uses 1310nm over single-mode with different power budgets. Mixing standards will result in link failure or unreliable operation.

Q: Does this transceiver require FEC or special configuration on Juniper platforms?
A: No. 10GBASE-LRM is a standard 10G Ethernet physical layer and does not require Forward Error Correction (FEC) or custom configuration. The transceiver is detected automatically by Junos and Junos Evolved when inserted into a 10G SFP+ port. DOM parameters are accessible via standard CLI commands (show interfaces diagnostics optics) or SNMP without additional setup.
