Q: Will this work in place of the Arista CAB-SFP-SFP-1M?
A: Yes. This cable is a plug-and-play drop-in replacement for the Arista CAB-SFP-SFP-1M and related length variants. It meets the 10GBASE-CR standard, uses the same SFP+ form factor, and operates at the same 10.3125 Gbps data rate as the OEM part. It will work in any Arista SFP+ or SFP25 port that supports direct attach copper.

Q: Which Arista platforms support this cable?
A: This cable is compatible with all Arista switches and routers that have SFP+ or SFP25 ports and run Arista EOS software. This includes data center switches in the 7000, 7100, 7200, 7300, and 7500 series, as well as campus and routing platforms with 10G SFP+ ports. Consult the Arista Transceiver and Cable Guide for platform-specific EOS version requirements.

Q: Can I use the longer lengths like 4m or 5m for passive 10G DAC, or do I need active cable?
A: All seven lengths in this family (1m to 5m) use passive copper and are suitable for 10GBASE-CR links. Passive DAC is typically reliable up to 5 meters when both ends have adequate equalization and pre-emphasis capability, which Arista SFP+ ports provide. Beyond 5 meters you would typically move to active copper or optical.

Q: Does this cable support 1G or 25G speeds, or only 10G?
A: The cable hardware supports data rates from 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, so it can handle 1G Ethernet and 8G Fibre Channel in addition to 10G Ethernet. However, 25G operation is not supported as the cable is specified for 10GBASE-CR. If you configure an Arista SFP25 port for 25G, you must use a 25GBASE-CR cable instead (CAB-S-S-25G-xM).

Q: What is the maximum bend radius for this cable, and does cable routing affect signal integrity?
A: The minimum bend radius is approximately 22mm (5 times the cable outer diameter for 30 AWG construction). Tighter bends can damage the twinaxial pair structure and degrade signal integrity, particularly over longer lengths. Route cables with gentle curves and avoid sharp corners or crimping, especially in high-density environments where multiple cables are bundled together.
