Description

Blue Cable Co 100GbE QSFP28 passive direct attach copper (DAC) cables are a power-efficient, plug-and-play alternative to optical fibre for short-reach 100G connections between QSFP28 ports, compatible with NVIDIA Mellanox platforms. Available in lengths from 1m to 5m, cables up to 2m operate as CA-25G-N (no FEC required) for low-latency deployments, while 2.5m to 5m variants are CA-25G-L and require RS-FEC to be enabled on the host. All variants feature an LSZH jacket and halogen-free PCB construction, and are backed by Blue Cable Co's 5-year advanced hardware replacement warranty.

  • Plug-and-play passive DAC — no power supply or configuration required
  • 100GbE QSFP28 to QSFP28 passive direct attach copper cable, NVIDIA Mellanox compatible
  • Available in 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m, and 5m lengths — select your variant above
  • 1m, 1.5m, and 2m variants: CA-25G-N compliant — no FEC required, low latency
  • 2.5m, 3m, and 5m variants: CA-25G-L compliant — RS-FEC must be enabled on the host
  • Four-lane passive copper construction, each lane operating at up to 25Gb/s
  • SFF-8665 compliant QSFP28 connectors with SFF-8636 compliant I2C management interface
  • LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket with halogen-free, lead-free PCB

FAQs

Q1: Which NVIDIA Mellanox switches and NICs are these 100GbE QSFP28 DAC cables compatible with?
A1: These passive DAC cables are compatible with NVIDIA Mellanox platforms equipped with QSFP28 ports supporting 100GbE direct attach copper connections. They are designed as compatible replacements for the OEM MCP1600-C0xxEyyz series. Contact our team to confirm fit for a specific device before ordering.

Q2: What lengths are available, and how do I choose the right one?
A2: Six lengths are available: 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m, and 5m. For within-rack connections, 1m to 2m is typically sufficient. The 2.5m to 5m options suit connections spanning rack bays or wider configurations. Note that FEC requirements differ by length — see below.

Q3: Are these cables suitable for data centre environments with smoke or halogen restrictions?
A3: Yes. All variants use an LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket, limiting toxic gas and smoke emission in the event of a fire. The PCB construction is also lead-free and halogen-free. Check your site's specific cabling standards to confirm suitability for your installation environment.

Q4: Are these active or passive cables — do they require any power?
A4: These are fully passive DAC cables with no active components, drawing a maximum of 0.1W from the host QSFP28 ports. No additional power supply, drivers, or configuration are required — insert and the link comes up automatically on compatible NVIDIA Mellanox hardware.
