ATEN VE7833A-AT | True 4K HDMI Active Optical Cable, 30M, Type-A to Type-A

Q: What is the difference between an Active Optical Cable and a standard HDMI cable?
A: An Active Optical Cable (AOC) uses optical fibre instead of copper conductors, allowing it to transmit 4K signals reliably over distances of 30 metres or more. Standard passive copper HDMI cables typically cannot maintain signal integrity beyond 5–10 metres at 4K resolution.

Q: Is the VE7833A directional — does it matter which end connects to the source?
A: Yes. Like all active optical cables, the VE7833A is directional. Each end is labelled for source (TX) and display (RX). Connecting it in reverse will result in no signal. Always check the end labelling before installation.

Q: What resolutions and refresh rates does the VE7833A support?
A: The VE7833A supports True 4K (4096×2160) and UHD 4K (3840×2160) at up to 60Hz, as well as 1080p and lower resolutions. It is HDMI 2.0 compliant and supports HDR10, Deep Colour (up to 36-bit), and 3D content.

Q: Can I use the VE7833A with a projector or commercial display?
A: Yes. It is compatible with any HDMI 2.0 source or display device including 4K projectors, commercial flat panels, video walls, and digital signage players, provided the device has a standard HDMI Type-A port.

Q: Does this cable require external power?
A: The VE7833A draws power directly from the HDMI port of the source device via the standard HDMI 5V pin, so no external power supply is required in most installations. This simplifies deployment significantly.
