Description

The Arista QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 is a 100GBASE-XCWDM4 QSFP28 optical transceiver delivering dual-rate 100G/40G operation over duplex single-mode fibre at distances up to 10km — three times the reach of standard CWDM4 modules. Using four CWDM wavelengths (1271, 1291, 1311, 1331 nm) across a duplex LC interface, it is purpose-built for data centre spine-leaf interconnects, DCI metro links, and campus core deployments where extended SMF reach is essential without moving to higher-cost LWDM or coherent solutions.

The module supports Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) for real-time optical performance visibility and remains interoperable with standard 100GBASE-CWDM4 links up to 2km, protecting existing infrastructure investments. Its hot-swappable QSFP28 pull-tab design integrates directly into Arista 100G-capable switch platforms. Available now at iptrading.com.au — competitive prices and local support.

Features

- 100G/40G dual-rate operation enables flexible deployment across mixed-speed network infrastructure
- Extended XCWDM4 reach up to 10km over duplex SMF — 5× further than standard CWDM4
- Four CWDM wavelengths (1271, 1291, 1311, 1331 nm) support WDM-efficient fibre utilisation
- Hot-swappable QSFP28 pull-tab form factor for easy field installation and replacement
- Duplex LC connector integrates with existing SMF cable plant — no rewiring required
- Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) for real-time Tx/Rx power, temperature, and voltage visibility
- Interoperable with standard 100GBASE-CWDM4 links up to 2km for backward compatibility
- Low power consumption (~3.5W) reduces chassis thermal load in high-density deployments
- Supported on Arista 100G QSFP ports across multiple EOS switch platforms
- Ideal for data centre spine-leaf, DCI metro, and enterprise campus core applications

FAQs

Q: What is the maximum transmission distance of the QSFP-100G-XCWDM4?
A: The QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 supports transmission distances of up to 10km over duplex single-mode fibre (SMF). It also interoperates with standard 100GBASE-CWDM4 links at distances up to 2km, providing backward compatibility with shorter-reach CWDM4 infrastructure.

Q: What is the difference between XCWDM4 and standard CWDM4?
A: Standard 100GBASE-CWDM4 supports up to 2km over duplex SMF. The XCWDM4 variant extends this to 10km using the same four CWDM wavelengths (1271, 1291, 1311, 1331 nm) with enhanced laser and receiver specifications. Both use duplex LC connectors, making XCWDM4 a drop-in upgrade for longer-reach applications without changing fibre infrastructure.

Q: Does the QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 support dual-rate operation?
A: Yes. The transceiver supports dual-rate 100G and 40G operation, using 4 × 25G NRZ lanes at 100G mode. This flexibility allows deployment in environments where both 100G and 40G ports are present, simplifying inventory management and future-proofing network upgrades.

Q: Which Arista switch platforms are compatible with this transceiver?
A: The QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 is designed for use with Arista switches that include 100G QSFP28 ports, including platforms in the 7050X, 7060X, 7260X, 7280R, and 7500R series running EOS. Always verify compatibility with your specific platform and EOS version via Arista's compatibility matrix.

Q: Does this transceiver support Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM)?
A: Yes. The QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 supports DDM (also known as DOM), allowing real-time monitoring of key optical parameters including transmit and receive power levels, temperature, supply voltage, and bias current. This enables proactive fault detection and optical performance management via EOS.

Q: Can I purchase the Arista QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 in Australia through IP Trading?
A: Yes. The QSFP-100G-XCWDM4 is available now at iptrading.com.au. IP Trading is an Australian B2B IT hardware reseller offering competitive pricing and local support. Contact our team for volume pricing, lead times, or compatibility advice for your specific Arista deployment.
