Older OM1 and OM2 fibres will work but at reduced distances (typically 33m and 82m respectively). The duplex LC connector requires standard LC-terminated fibre patch cables.

A: Standard commercial-grade SFP+ transceivers operate from 0°C to 70°C. This industrial version extends the range to -40°C to 85°C using hardened VCSEL lasers, temperature-compensated drive circuits, and ruggedised optical components. This range is essential for outdoor cabinet installations, factory floors without climate control, mining infrastructure, and transportation systems where ambient temperature exceeds commercial limits.

Q: Can I access DOM data, and what parameters are available?
A: Yes, DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) is supported via the SFF-8472 interface. You can query transmit power (dBm), receive power (dBm), laser bias current (mA), transceiver internal temperature (°C), and supply voltage (V) in real time using show interface transceiver commands or SNMP on Dell switches. Thresholds for alarm and warning levels are programmed into the transceiver EEPROM for automated link health monitoring.
