Description

The UniFi 5G Backup (U5G) is a compact PoE-powered 5G RedCap cellular modem designed to deliver automatic internet failover for UniFi networks. Plugging directly into any UniFi PoE switch or gateway port, it requires no separate power adapter and supports both Nano-SIM and eSIM connectivity across a wide range of 5G NR and LTE bands. With download speeds up to 220 Mbps and automatic LTE fallback, it ensures continuous connectivity for business-critical applications. This US version (U5G-US) ships with eSIM pre-configured for T-Mobile network activation post-adoption.

Fully carrier-unlocked and managed natively within the UniFi ecosystem via UniFi Network v10.4.57 or later, the U5G supports both primary WAN and LAN-connected backup WAN modes via GRE tunnel. A front-facing status display provides real-time signal and carrier visibility, while included desktop, wall, and window mount options suit virtually any deployment scenario.

A: The U5G-US is the US-specific version of the UniFi 5G Backup modem. Its eSIM is pre-configured to automatically activate on the T-Mobile network upon device adoption. Other regional variants support different carrier eSIM profiles. The supported 5G NR bands are also optimised for US carrier frequencies.

Q: Does the U5G require a separate power supply?
A: No. The U5G is powered entirely via 802.3af PoE, so it draws power directly from any compatible UniFi PoE switch or gateway port. No additional power adapter or outlet is needed.

Q: Can I use my own SIM card with the U5G-US?
A: Yes. The U5G-US is fully carrier-unlocked and accepts any compatible Nano-SIM (4FF) in addition to its built-in eSIM slot. You can insert a SIM from any carrier that supports the device's 5G NR or LTE band configuration.
