Description

The Teltonika RUT981 is a global LTE Cat 4 industrial router designed for deployments across Australia, Europe, the USA, and Asia-Pacific — a single SKU covering 18 LTE bands, 7 UMTS bands, and 4 GSM bands via a Telit modem. It features dual physical SIM slots plus an integrated eSIM with Bootstrap provisioning, enabling automatic SIM failover and load balancing across all three connections. Four 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports (1 WAN, 3 LAN), passive PoE input via LAN1, and a rugged aluminium IP30 enclosure make it well-suited to retail branches, EV charging stations, remote kiosks, and light industrial asset monitoring.

Running RutOS (Linux/OpenWRT), the RUT981 supports a full VPN suite including OpenVPN, IPsec, and WireGuard, and is fully compatible with Teltonika RMS for centralised remote monitoring, configuration, and firmware management across distributed fleets. Digital I/O ports enable status signalling and third-party integration. The unit operates across -40 to +65°C with CE, FCC, RCM, and UL/CSA Class I Division 2 certifications, and ships with PSU included. Available now at iptrading.com.au — competitive prices and local support.

FAQs

Q: Will the RUT981 work on Australian 4G networks?
A: Yes. The RUT981 uses a global Telit LTE Cat 4 modem supporting 18 LTE bands, including the key bands used by Telstra, Optus, and TPG/Vodafone in Australia. RCM certification confirms it meets Australian regulatory requirements. The same unit also operates across Europe, the USA, and Asia-Pacific.

Q: What is the eSIM on the RUT981 and how does it work?
A: The RUT981 includes an integrated eSIM pre-loaded with a Bootstrap 10 MB profile. This allows administrators to remotely provision a carrier profile without physically inserting a SIM card — particularly useful for remote deployments or devices shipped to unmanned locations. The eSIM participates in the same WAN failover and load-balancing logic as the two physical SIM slots.

Q: Can the RUT981 be powered via PoE?
A: Yes. The RUT981 supports passive PoE input via the LAN1 port (Mode B, 9–30 VDC), allowing it to be powered from a compatible passive PoE injector or switch without running a separate power cable. A standard DC PSU is also included in the box for conventional power installations.

Q: What VPN protocols does the RUT981 support?
A: The RUT981 runs RutOS, a Linux/OpenWRT-based operating system with a comprehensive VPN suite including OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, PPTP, L2TP, and GRE. This makes it suitable for secure site-to-site connectivity and remote access in enterprise branch and industrial deployments.

Q: Does the RUT981 support centralised remote management?
A: Yes. The RUT981 is fully compatible with Teltonika RMS (Remote Management System), a cloud-based platform for monitoring device status, pushing configuration changes, updating firmware, and troubleshooting across large fleets of deployed routers — all from a single dashboard.

Q: Can I purchase the Teltonika RUT981 in Australia through IP Trading?
A: Yes. The RUT981 (RUT981000400) is available now at iptrading.com.au with competitive pricing and local Australian support. IP Trading specialises in B2B IT hardware procurement and can assist with volume orders, pre-sales technical questions, and post-sales support.
