Description

The SPD50NGI is a Class II neutral-earth or earth-earth equipotential clamp with a 50kA applied mode rating, designed for boards located remote from the MEN point. It operates in either N-E or E-E configuration and links separately grounded systems during a surge event, then stops conducting under normal conditions so earth loops and inter-circuit coupling are avoided.

The parallel shunt connection offers a compact protection solution with an 800V clamp voltage and a surge current rating of 50kA to 100kA In and 70kA to 150kA Imax. It is compatible with most switchboards and is built for quick, simple installation in commercial and industrial electrical environments.

Features

- Compact neutral-earth protection solution
- Surge current rating from 50kA to 100kA In, 70kA to 150kA Imax
- Compatible with most switchboards
- Quick and simple installation
- Does not conduct under normal conditions, preventing earth loops and inter-circuit coupling

FAQs

Q: What is the SPD50NGI used for?
A: It is an equipotential clamp used between neutral and earth (N-E) or between two earths (E-E) on boards remote from the MEN point. It links separately grounded systems during a surge.

Q: Will it cause earth loops during normal operation?
A: No. The clamp does not conduct under normal conditions, which prevents earth loops and inter-circuit coupling. It only conducts when a surge drives the voltage above its 800V clamp level.

Q: What surge ratings does it provide?
A: It has a 50kA applied mode rating, with a surge current rating of 50kA to 100kA In and 70kA to 150kA Imax.

Q: How is it connected?
A: It uses a parallel shunt connection, so it is installed in parallel with the circuit rather than in series with the load.

Q: Which standard and class does it meet?
A: It is rated to IEC Class II.

Q: Is it compatible with my switchboard?
A: It is compatible with most switchboards and is designed for quick and simple installation.
