Q: Do I need a separate switch to power the cameras?
A: No. The UNVR-Instant has a built-in 6-port PoE switch with a 40W total power budget, so you can connect and power all four included cameras directly to the NVR without any additional networking equipment.

Q: Can I expand the system beyond the four included cameras?
A: Yes. The UNVR-Instant supports up to 6x 4K, 8x 2K, or 15x 1080p cameras simultaneously, giving you room to grow. You can also connect ONVIF-compatible third-party cameras alongside UniFi Protect cameras.

A: No. UniFi Protect uses local storage on the built-in HDD with no mandatory cloud subscriptions or per-camera licensing fees. Remote management is available through ui.com at no ongoing cost.

Q: Are the G5 Turret Ultra cameras suitable for outdoor use?
A: Yes. The G5 Turret Ultra cameras carry an IP66 weather resistance rating, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor deployment. They also feature 30m infrared night vision for 24/7 coverage.
