Description

The Ubiquiti LAP-GPS-AU airMAX Lite AP GPS is a 5 GHz sector access point built for long-distance point-to-multipoint wireless broadband. This AU region variant adds GPS synchronisation, allowing TDMA sync across multiple sites to reduce self-interference and increase network capacity. It offers a 90 degree beamwidth, real TCP/IP throughput above 450 Mbps and link ranges beyond 12 km.

The integrated high-isolation shielded antenna reduces out-of-band energy, and a dedicated spectral analysis radio helps identify clean channels. A separate 2.4 GHz management radio supports setup from a mobile app, and the ball-joint mount speeds up installation. The access point runs airOS 8 and is powered over passive PoE through a Gigabit Ethernet port.

FAQs

Q: What does the GPS in the LAP-GPS-AU do?
A: The integrated GPS provides TDMA synchronisation between multiple airMAX access points, which reduces interference between co-located units and improves overall network capacity.

Q: What frequency band does the LAP-GPS-AU operate on?
A: It operates in the 5 GHz band, covering 5150-5875 MHz. A separate 2.4 GHz radio is used only for management and mobile app setup.

Q: How is the LAP-GPS-AU powered?
A: It is powered by passive PoE at 24V using the included Gigabit PoE adapter. The supported input voltage range is 20-26VDC.

Q: What is the coverage pattern and range?
A: It uses a 90 degree beamwidth sector antenna and supports link ranges of 12 km or more, with capacity for 50+ clients.

Q: What is the difference between the LAP-GPS-AU and other Lite AP models?
A: The LAP-GPS adds integrated GPS synchronisation for TDMA operation, which is not available on the standard Lite AP. The AU suffix denotes the Australian regional variant.

Q: What software does it run and how is it configured?
A: It runs airOS 8. The dedicated management radio lets you set it up from a mobile app during installation.
