Description

The SFP-1GLHXLC-T-BCC is a drop-in compatible replacement for the Moxa SFP-1GLHXLC-T. This industrial-grade SFP transceiver provides plug-and-play compatibility with Moxa industrial Ethernet switches and network devices requiring extended temperature operation. - Complies with IEEE 802.3z and SFF-8472 standards, ensuring interoperability across MSA-compliant gigabit Ethernet platforms - 1310nm wavelength DFB laser delivers up to 40km reach over 9/125um single-mode fiber with LC duplex connector - Industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees C for harsh environment deployments in rail, oil and gas, power substations, and outdoor installations - Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) support provides real-time access to optical power, temperature, voltage, and laser bias current parameters - Hot-swappable SFP form factor allows field installation and replacement without powering down the host system - 1000BASE-EX classification with higher optical power budget than standard 1000BASE-LX for extended single-mode fiber links

Features

• IEEE 802.3z compliance guarantees layer 1 interoperability with any standards-compliant gigabit Ethernet switch, router, or media converter using SFP slots
• 1000BASE-EX extended reach specification uses higher transmit power and improved receiver sensitivity compared to 1000BASE-LX, enabling 40km links where standard LX modules reach only 10km
• Industrial operating temperature from -40 to 85 degrees C makes this suitable for outdoor cabinets, railway wayside equipment, substation automation, and mining operations where commercial-grade optics would fail
• SFF-8472 DDM functionality exposes transmit power, receive power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current via I2C interface for proactive link monitoring and troubleshooting
• Single-mode fiber at 1310nm wavelength avoids chromatic dispersion penalties seen at 1550nm over intermediate distances, and provides lower cost than CWDM or DWDM solutions for point-to-point links
• Hot-swappable design allows installation or replacement while the host switch remains powered, minimizing network downtime during maintenance windows
• 1.25 Gbps line rate with 8b/10b encoding delivers 1000 Mbps effective throughput for full gigabit Ethernet bandwidth on fiber infrastructure

FAQs

Q: Will this work in place of the Moxa SFP-1GLHXLC-T?
A: Yes. This transceiver is designed as a direct replacement for the Moxa SFP-1GLHXLC-T. It matches the same 1000BASE-EX specification, 1310nm wavelength, 40km single-mode reach, LC connector, and industrial -40 to 85 degrees C temperature range. It is plug-and-play compatible and programmed to the same MSA standard with DDM support.

Q: Which Moxa switches and platforms support this transceiver?
A: This transceiver works in any Moxa switch or device with SFP slots that support 1000BASE-X standards, including the ICS-G7000, ICS-G7500, ICS-G7800, IKS-G6500, EDS-G500, and EDS-500A series industrial Ethernet switches. Compatibility is based on the IEEE 802.3z standard, not on specific platform models. If your Moxa device accepts gigabit SFP modules and operates on single-mode fiber, this module will function.

Q: What fiber type and connector are required for 40km reach?
A: You need 9/125um single-mode fiber (OS1 or OS2 grade) with LC duplex connectors. The 40km reach assumes clean fiber with low insertion loss, minimal splices, and appropriate optical budget. Multimode fiber is not supported for this module. Standard SMF patch cables with UPC or APC polish are suitable. For spans approaching 40km, verify your fiber plant insertion loss is within the module's power budget.

Q: How does the industrial temperature range affect deployment?
A: The -40 to 85 degrees C rating allows this transceiver to operate in non-climate-controlled environments such as outdoor telecom cabinets, railway signal houses, roadside ITS enclosures, and industrial control rooms without HVAC. Standard commercial transceivers are rated 0 to 70 degrees C and will fail or throttle in extreme cold or heat. The extended range is critical for rail, oil and gas, mining, and utility applications where equipment operates in ambient conditions.

Q: Can I access DDM parameters on any platform, and what do they indicate?
A: DDM data is available on any host platform that supports SFF-8472 querying via the SFP I2C interface. Most managed industrial switches, including Moxa ICS and EDS series, expose DDM through CLI or web UI. The five monitored parameters are transmit optical power, receive optical power, module temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current. Degrading receive power or rising bias current can indicate fiber contamination or aging lasers, allowing you to replace the module or clean connectors before a link failure occurs.
