Description

The SFP-1G40BLC-T-BCC is a drop-in compatible replacement for the Moxa SFP-1G40BLC-T. It delivers plug-and-play functionality in Moxa industrial Ethernet switches requiring 1000BASE-BX40-D connectivity with extended temperature range. - 1000BASE-BX40-D compliant BiDi transceiver guarantees standards-based interoperability with downstream WDM links - SFP form factor, 1.25 Gbps data rate, single-mode fibre, LC simplex connector, TX 1550nm/RX 1310nm wavelengths, up to 40km reach over G.652 fibre - Industrial operating temperature of -40 to 85 degrees C for deployment in harsh environments including outdoor, factory automation, transportation, and mining applications - Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) provides real-time access to optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage - Hot-pluggable design supports field replacement without shutting down the network - IEEE 802.3z and SFP MSA SFF-8472 compliant for guaranteed compatibility with MSA-compliant Gigabit Ethernet equipment

Features

• IEEE 802.3z compliance guarantees interoperability with any standards-compliant 1000BASE-BX downstream or WDM equipment, eliminating vendor lock-in for point-to-point links
• BiDi (WDM) architecture uses a single fibre strand for bidirectional transmission by separating TX (1550nm) and RX (1310nm) wavelengths, reducing fibre infrastructure cost by 50 percent compared to duplex links
• Industrial-grade temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees C achieved through hardened IC and optical components, enabling deployment in outdoor cabinets, railway trackside, mining, oil and gas, and factory floor environments without climate control
• SFF-8472 DDM function exposes real-time transceiver diagnostics (optical TX/RX power, temperature, bias current, voltage) to SNMP-capable network management systems for proactive link monitoring and fault isolation
• Hot-pluggable SFP footprint with single 3.3V power supply enables field replacement without powering down the host switch, minimizing network downtime during maintenance or upgrades
• Compliant with SFP MSA SFF-8074i mechanical and electrical specification, guaranteeing physical and electrical compatibility with any MSA-compliant Gigabit Ethernet SFP slot

FAQs

Q: Will this work in place of the Moxa SFP-1G40BLC-T?
A: Yes. This transceiver is built to 1000BASE-BX40-D standard, uses the same SFP form factor, operates at 1.25 Gbps, and matches the TX 1550nm/RX 1310nm wavelength pair and 40km reach specification. It is plug-and-play compatible with Moxa industrial Ethernet switches that specify the SFP-1G40BLC-T.

Q: Which Moxa switches is this compatible with?
A: This transceiver works in any Moxa industrial Ethernet switch with a Gigabit SFP slot that supports 1000BASE-BX transceivers. Confirmed compatible series include ICS-G7526/G7528, ICS-G7826/G7828, ICS-G7850/G7852, IKS-G6524/G6824, IKS-6726/6728, EDS-G509/G512E/G516E, EDS-518A, EDS-510A, EDS-P510A-8PoE, and EDR-G902/G903 models. Refer to your switch datasheet to confirm SFP slot support.

Q: This is a BiDi transceiver with TX 1550nm and RX 1310nm. What does that mean for deployment?
A: BiDi transceivers use wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) to send and receive on a single fibre strand. The SFP-1G40BLC-T-BCC transmits at 1550nm and receives at 1310nm, so it must be paired at the far end with a complementary upstream transceiver that transmits at 1310nm and receives at 1550nm (such as SFP-1G40ALC-T or equivalent). Do not pair two SFP-1G40BLC-T modules back-to-back.

Q: What fibre type is required to reach 40km, and what happens if I use this on shorter links?
A: This transceiver is specified for G.652 single-mode fibre. Reaching 40km requires sufficient link budget (at least 20 dB per Moxa datasheet) after accounting for fibre attenuation, splice loss, and connector loss. On very short links (under 1km), excessive optical power may saturate the receiver. Use an inline attenuator (typically 5-10 dB) on short back-to-back or metro links to avoid receiver damage.

Q: Can I monitor link health and optical power levels with this transceiver?
A: Yes. This transceiver supports SFF-8472 Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM). Most Moxa switches with SNMP or CLI management expose DDM parameters including optical transmit power, optical receive power, transceiver temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage. You can use these values to verify link margin, detect dirty connectors, or predict transceiver failure before the link goes down.
