Actual reach depends on the optical power budget of 4.6 dB minimum, fibre quality, patch panel losses, and connector cleanliness. Always verify link budget for your specific installation.

Q: How do I access the DDM parameters on this module?
A: DDM data is accessible via the SFF-8472 two-wire I2C serial interface at address A2h. Most Dell network operating systems and management tools (ONIE, Dell Networking OS, iDRAC for certain NICs) expose these values through CLI or GUI. Parameters include temperature, TX bias current, TX power, RX power, and supply voltage, updated in real time.

Q: Can I mix this transceiver with OEM Dell optics on the same switch?
A: Yes. Because this module complies with the same SFP+ MSA mechanical specification and IEEE 802.3ae electrical and optical standards, it will interoperate seamlessly with Dell OEM optics and third-party transceivers on the same chassis.
