Your switch can query transmit power, receive power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage via the I2C interface. Q: Does this transceiver require any specific Forward Error Correction (FEC) settings?
A: No. 10GBASE-ER at 10.3125 Gbps line rate does not require FEC and typically operates without it. The standard's power budget and reach assume no FEC. If your platform enables FEC by default, you may need to disable it on the port to ensure proper link establishment with standards-compliant 10GBASE-ER transceivers.
