Older G.652A fibre or links with multiple splice points or patch panels may reduce effective reach. Verify total link loss is within the transceiver's power budget.

Q: Can I monitor optical power and other parameters in real time?
A: Yes. This module supports Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) per SFF-8472. Your switch can query transmit power, receive power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage via the I2C interface. Use vendor CLI commands or SNMP to access these parameters for link health assessment and troubleshooting.

Q: Does this transceiver require any specific Forward Error Correction (FEC) settings?
A: No. 10GBASE-ER at 10.3125 Gbps line rate does not require FEC and typically operates without it. The standard's power budget and reach assume no FEC. If your platform enables FEC by default, you may need to disable it on the port to ensure proper link establishment with standards-compliant 10GBASE-ER transceivers.
