This 10GBASE-LRM SFP+ transceiver operates at 1310nm and delivers plug-and-play 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over legacy multimode and single-mode fibre infrastructure. - IEEE 802.3aq 10GBASE-LRM compliance guarantees interoperability with Cisco SFP+ platforms and third-party 10GbE equipment - 220m reach over FDDI-grade, OM1, OM2, and OM3 multimode fibre using 1310nm wavelength; 300m over G.652 single-mode fibre - Mode conditioning patch cord required for FDDI-grade, OM1, and OM2 fibre to meet full specifications; not required for OM3, OM4, or single-mode deployments - Hot-swappable SFP+ form factor with duplex LC connector and DOM support for real-time monitoring of optical power, temperature, voltage, and bias current - Designed for brownfield upgrades where 10GBASE-SR modules cannot achieve sufficient reach on legacy OM1 or OM2 installations

Q: When is a mode conditioning patch cord required?
A: Mode conditioning patch cords are required when deploying this module over FDDI-grade, OM1, or OM2 multimode fibre to meet full IEEE 802.3aq distance specifications and prevent differential mode delay. They are not required for OM3, OM4, or single-mode fibre. The patch cord must be installed at the transmitter end of each fibre pair.

Q: Can this module operate on single-mode fibre, and what is the maximum reach?
A: Yes. The SFP-10G-LRM-BCC supports up to 300m on standard G.652 single-mode fibre without requiring mode conditioning. This makes it suitable for short single-mode links or mixed deployments where both multimode and single-mode segments exist. Standard LC/PC patch cords are used for single-mode connections.

Q: What is the minimum link distance, and why does it matter?
A: The minimum link distance is 2 metres per IEEE 802.3ae. Unlike some 10G optics that require attenuation at very short distances, 10GBASE-LRM modules have no minimum attenuation requirement, allowing direct rack-to-rack or intra-rack connections without additional optical components.
