A: Yes. Each QSFP+ port negotiates the link independently. You can use 1m cables for adjacent rack connections and 5m cables for cross-row links on the same switch without any software configuration. The 40GBASE-CR4 auto-negotiation handles electrical parameter adjustments per port.

Q: Does this cable support breakout to four 10G lanes?
A: No. This is a standard 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ cable, not a breakout cable. It presents as a single 40G interface to the host. For 4x10G breakout, you need a QSFP+ to 4xSFP+ DAC breakout cable, which uses different pinout mapping and connector configuration at one end.
