OM4 fibre has higher effective modal bandwidth at 850nm (4700 MHz.km vs 2000 MHz.km for OM3), reducing modal dispersion and enabling longer reach for the same optical budget. If your deployment exceeds 70m, use OM4 or OM5 fibre.

Q: Can I mix this dual-rate module between 40G and 100G ports on the same link?
A: No. Both ends of the link must be configured for the same data rate (either 40G or 100G). The dual-rate capability refers to the module's ability to operate in either mode depending on host configuration, not simultaneous support. The host platform negotiates the data rate during link initialization, and both transceivers must match.
