Paired BiDi modules at each link end must have complementary wavelength assignments to work correctly.

Q: What is the practical reach difference between OM3 and OM4 fibre with this module?
A: This module supports 70m over OM3 and 100m over OM4 fibre due to differences in modal bandwidth. OM4 fibre has higher effective modal bandwidth at 850nm (4700 MHz.km vs 2000 MHz.km for OM3), reducing modal dispersion and enabling longer reach for the same optical budget. If your deployment exceeds 70m, use OM4 or OM5 fibre.

Q: Can I mix this dual-rate module between 40G and 100G ports on the same link?
A: No. Both ends of the link must be configured for the same data rate (either 40G or 100G). The dual-rate capability refers to the module's ability to operate in either mode depending on host configuration, not simultaneous support. The host platform negotiates the data rate during link initialization, and both transceivers must match.
