The HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen12 Rear NS204i-u Boot Device Enablement Kit is a rear install option that lets the NS204i-u hot-plug NVMe boot device be fitted in the power supply bay on the rear panel of a ProLiant DL580 Gen12 server. It is the required choice when front drive box 4 is occupied by a drive cage, keeping front bays free for data drives. This is the rear install version, distinct from the Front kit P79031-B21.

The NS204i-u boot device uses a private form factor with preconfigured hardware RAID 1 across two M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs, dedicated to OS boot. The NS204i-u v2 480GB boot device (P78279-B21) is ordered separately. Front and Rear enablement kits cannot be selected together on the same server.
