Description

The FortiAP 243K is an enterprise-class Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) indoor access point designed for high-density campus, branch, and distributed enterprise deployments. Featuring four dedicated radios across tri-band 2.4/5/6 GHz with 2x2 MU-MIMO streams, it delivers aggregate throughput of up to 9.3 Gbps and includes a dedicated 24/7 scanning radio for continuous WIDS/WIPS monitoring. External RPSMA antenna connectors provide flexible, site-specific antenna configurations, while the integrated BLE/ZigBee radio supports IoT beacons and locationing applications.

Fully integrated with the Fortinet Security Fabric, the FAP-243K is centrally managed via FortiGate, FortiEdge Cloud, or SASE — with no additional FortiGate licence required for access point management. Built-in support for Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), WPA3, and AI-driven FortiAIOps delivers unified wired and wireless security with Layer 1–7 visibility. Dual Ethernet ports include a 10G PoE++ (802.3bt) uplink for maximum bandwidth headroom. Note: 6 GHz band availability is subject to regional regulatory authority approval. Visit iptrading.com.au to secure your order — enterprise-grade hardware with expert support.

FAQs

Q: What makes the FAP-243K a Wi-Fi 7 access point?
A: The FAP-243K supports IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7), which introduces 4K-QAM modulation, 320 MHz channel bandwidth, Multi-Link Operation (MLO), Multi-RU allocation, and spectrum puncturing. These technologies combine to deliver significantly higher throughput, lower latency, and better spectral efficiency compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E.

Q: What is the purpose of the fourth dedicated scanning radio?
A: The dedicated scanning radio continuously monitors all bands 24/7 for rogue APs, wireless threats, and RF interference without impacting client traffic. This enables persistent WIDS/WIPS protection and real-time RF visibility across the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands simultaneously.

Q: Does the FAP-243K require a separate FortiGate licence to manage?
A: No. FortiAP management via a FortiGate integrated WLAN controller does not require an additional licence. The AP can also be managed through FortiEdge Cloud or Fortinet's SASE platform for organisations using cloud-based or distributed management.

Q: Is the 6 GHz band available in Australia?
A: 6 GHz Wi-Fi availability is subject to regional regulatory authority approval. In Australia, 6 GHz spectrum access for Wi-Fi is progressively being addressed by the ACMA. Buyers should confirm current regulatory status for their specific deployment scenario before relying on 6 GHz band operation.

Q: What security capabilities are built into the FAP-243K?
A: The FAP-243K integrates with the Fortinet Security Fabric to deliver Firewall, IPS, Application Control, and Web Filtering for wireless traffic. It also supports WPA3, WIDS/WIPS, captive portal authentication, and serves as a foundation for Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and SASE deployments.

Q: Can I purchase the Fortinet FAP-243K-H in Australia from IP Trading?
A: Yes. IP Trading Australia (iptrading.com.au) stocks enterprise Fortinet wireless hardware including the FAP-243K-H, with local expert support for pre-sales technical advice, configuration guidance, and order fulfilment. Contact the team directly for availability and volume pricing.
