Description

The Arista OSFP-800G-2LR4 is a dual-port 800G OSFP optical transceiver delivering two independent 400GBASE-LR4 links from a single module — no optical breakout cables required. Designed for high-density spine-leaf, AI, HPC, and cloud data centre deployments, it supports up to 10km reach per port over duplex single-mode fibre (ITU-T G.652) via two duplex LC connectors. Using a CWDM4 optical architecture with 8x 100G PAM-4 electrical lanes, it also supports dual-rate operation at 2x 200GBASE-LR4 for additional deployment flexibility.

The OSFP form factor provides approximately 50% more surface area than QSFP-DD for superior thermal performance, with an integrated heatsink for reliable operation at high port densities. Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM), hot-plug capability, and compliance with IEEE 802.3ck, OSFP MSA, and CMIS Rev 5.0 ensure seamless integration into modern 800G-capable Arista platforms. RoHS compliant. Need it fast? iptrading.com.au delivers across Australia — shop now.

FAQs

Q: What does the OSFP-800G-2LR4 actually provide — is it one 800G link or two separate 400G links?
A: It provides two physically independent 400GBASE-LR4 links, each via its own duplex LC connector, from a single OSFP module. This is not a single aggregated 800G link — each port operates independently at 400G, making it ideal for connecting two separate 400G-capable devices without any optical breakout cabling.

Q: What fibre type and maximum reach does the OSFP-800G-2LR4 support?
A: The transceiver operates over duplex single-mode fibre (SMF) conforming to ITU-T G.652, supporting a maximum reach of 10km per port. It is not compatible with multi-mode fibre.

Q: Does the OSFP-800G-2LR4 support dual-rate operation?
A: Yes. In addition to 2x 400GBASE-LR4, it also supports 2x 200GBASE-LR4 operation, providing flexibility for environments where 200G connectivity is required on the same hardware.

Q: Why is the OSFP form factor preferred over QSFP-DD for 800G applications?
A: The OSFP module offers approximately 50% more surface area than QSFP-DD, which allows for significantly better thermal management. Combined with an integrated heatsink in the module case, OSFP transceivers like the OSFP-800G-2LR4 are better suited for high-density 800G deployments where heat dissipation is a critical concern.

Q: Can I purchase the Arista OSFP-800G-2LR4 in Australia through IP Trading?
A: Yes. IP Trading (iptrading.com.au) is an Australian B2B IT hardware reseller stocking Arista transceivers including the OSFP-800G-2LR4. We deliver across Australia with fast dispatch. Contact our team or order directly online for pricing and availability.

Q: What platforms and architectures is the OSFP-800G-2LR4 designed for?
A: This transceiver is designed for use in Arista 800G-capable switches and routers deployed in spine-leaf, high-performance computing (HPC), AI/ML infrastructure, and large-scale cloud data centre environments. It is compliant with IEEE 802.3ck, OSFP MSA, and CMIS Rev 5.0.
