SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility Pact
Background
The company's operations are not subject to any specific environmental regulations or law of the Commonwealth or of a State or Territory in Australia. IP Trading embraces the opportunity to minimise its impact on the environment and to contribute to the society in which its people and their families live and work. We believe that long-term success depends upon responding dynamically to our customer's needs and to society's changing norms. Key components of our strategy are, to ensure high levels of employee morale and safety and to nurture a sense of positive teamwork and belonging. The outcome will positively impact our ability to, attract new revenue streams, introduce efficiency initiatives and to deliver excellent service to customers. We actively encourage our various stakeholders to share their needs, concerns and aspirations with us so we can work collaboratively to address these.
Our work space
IP Trading acknowledges the commitment and contribution that each of its employees make to the business's success. In return we are committed to providing a safe, positive and engaging work environment that results in employee retention and a concomitant growth in the enterprises collective intelligence. Our policies include equal opportunity, flexible working, health and safety, whistle blower and grievance guidelines. All employees have direct and e-mail access to the company's Chief Executive to discuss grievances or concerns. Our informal and flexible culture rewards employees for their commitment and dependability.
Environment
Due to the nature of our business, IP Trading's operations have a low direct impact on the environment. The initiatives we have in place rely on a shared commitment by our team to reduce electricity, water and paper consumption and to actively encourage recycling of waste products.
We have consumption targets in place to reduce the company's impact on the environment for:
Environmental Direct impact
Electricity consumption:**
- Unit of measure - kWh.
Water consumption:**
- Unit of measure - Kilolitres.
Paper consumption:**
- Unit of measure - number of copies by paper size.
**For Direct Impact Performance Measures- refer attached schedule.
Target and actual consumption levels for the above initiatives are shared with the team on a monthly basis and new initiatives are introduced as these are identified.
Sale of network and communication hardware:
Used networking and communication hardware are sourced, refurbished and resold as a core activity in our operations. We aim to maintain the contribution of recycled communication and network equipment at more than 30% of total sales.
Metal recycling:
We endeavour to minimise the impact on our environment by consolidating unusable metal casings for sale to specialist third parties recyclers. (Impact Measurement initiative being developed)
Environmental Indirect Impact
As an environmentally and socially responsible business we place an emphasis on doing business with partners that share our values. We encourage our SME supply partners to be aware of the social and environmental impact that their businesses have.
In a drive to achieve a more measurable reading of how the company's indirect activities impact the environment and society, we aim to engage compliant supplier partners in key areas of our business. Compliant partners are those that have established environmental and social responsibility programs that are publicly available for review. The target is that these suppliers should supply products and services that represent at least 40% of total expenditure excluding expenditure on employment related expenses, commissions, bad debts and depreciation.
Conclusion
Training will be provided to employees to facilitate meaningful participation in this pact. This policy will remain a work in progress and will express the dynamic views, needs and concerns of all our stakeholders.
