Aruba part numbers and product lines explained

Aruba Networks is now called HPE Aruba Networking. The products are the same lines, but part numbers and names can be confusing. Here is how to read them.

Part number prefixes

  • JL: most Aruba switches and many accessories, such as JL678A
  • R and S: newer switches, access points and licences use part numbers starting with R or S
  • The final letter: usually A or B, showing the version of the part

Search the full part number, as similar numbers can be different models or regional versions.

Product lines

  • Aruba CX switches: the 6000 to 6400 Series for access, and 8100 to 10000 Series for aggregation, core and data centre. See our campus switch guide.
  • Access points: AP-500 Series (Wi-Fi 6), AP-600 Series (Wi-Fi 6E) and AP-700 Series (Wi-Fi 7)
  • Gateways: the 9000 Series for branch and campus traffic, policy and SD-WAN
  • Aruba Central: cloud management, licensed per device
